Serge Marchetta and Masha Ryskin’s layered and immersive installations are rooted in explorations of the memory of places. Using diverse materials and processes, including mixed media paintings, drawings, and sculpture, along with architectural interventions, and videos, that highlight subtle shifts and movements in these spaces over time. Within these created environments, viewers are encouraged to notice the nuances of their surroundings and consider the ephemeral nature and inherent uncertainty of the human condition.

Masha Ryskin and Serge Marchetta have been collaborating since 2010. Their collaborations have been exhibited throughout the United States, in Montreal, Finland, Norway, Slovakia, Italy, the Netherlands, and Israel. 

Masha Ryskin is a multidisciplinary immigrant artist from the Former Soviet Union. Her work has been exhibited both nationally in the United States and internationally in Canada, Taiwan, Finland, Belgium, Spain, and Norway and has been reviewed in various publications including The New York Times. She earned a BFA in 1995 from Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from University of Michigan in 1997. Ryskin is a recipient of numerous awards, including a Rhode Island Artist Fellowship in 2015 and the newly established Make Art Grant in 2024. She is a two time Fulbright Fellow with a junior fellowship in 1998 and a Senior Scholar Award in 2022. She is currently on the faculty at Rhode Island School of Design.

Serge Marchetta earned a BFA at Université du Québec à Montréal in 1995 after eighteen years working at the Canada Post. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Montreal, the Province of Québec, Europe and the United States. He has participated in artist residencies in Europe, and the United States and is a recipient of grants from Fondation Ténot, France, Le CALC, and Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles du Québec. He has curated several exhibitions and is co-founder of the non-profit organization C2S Arts et Événements, founded in 2005 dedicated to visual art. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections.
