OVERLAP is an artist-run space in Newport, RI. We showcase, curate, and offer for sale contemporary artworks and functional objects made by regional artists, including work made in our own studio. Our gallery exhibitions emphasize a blend of craft and concept, featuring visually captivating bodies of work that incorporate informed material explorations combined with compelling ideas. OUR TEAM

Founder & Director: Susie Matthews has been making and showing her artwork in Rhode Island for over 25 years. As a ceramist, Susie navigates the gray areas and intersections between art and design, sculpture, and functional objects. She believes all types of art should be valued, creativity should be encouraged, and that art should be incorporated into our lives as much as possible.

Gallery Co-Director Alicia Renadette is an actively exhibiting artist with extensive experience working behind the scenes at galleries and art museums. She appreciates the vision and perseverance required to foster creative practices and is dedicated to curating and promoting exhibitions that incorporate diverse perspectives and processes.
